So... what skincare do you use?

Many clients ask me about my skincare product choice, and the short answer is 'Tropic Skincare'. It was a journey to discover this brand, so let's start from the beginning.

Skin care has been part of my daily routine since my teenage years, a habit instilled thankfully, by my mother. Over time, I experimented with various high street brands to manage my dry skin with an oily T-zone. I would have continued switching between brands, each promising the latest skincare innovation, if not for my breast cancer diagnosis.

The diagnosis halted me and served as a wake-up call, prompting me to adopt a healthier lifestyle to prevent cancer. I delved into research on cancer prevention, diet, and exercise, which led to a better understanding of how the skin absorbs substances. Discovering the number of chemicals in my skincare and makeup products, and their potential to affect hormones and health, was alarming.

The allure of skincare products that once promised miraculous results faded, replaced by unease. I began searching for kinder, natural products free from potentially harmful chemicals.

In truth, I believe I would have gravitated towards this path eventually, given the growing scrutiny and awareness of personal care product ingredients.

How Tropic Skincare found me!

After months of searching, nothing had really caught my interest. Then, I was invited to a Tropic Skincare pamper event by a close friend, who would receive free products and incentives for hosting. I must admit, I was quite sceptical. I had never encountered these skincare products before, and my previous experiences at similar parties had left me feeling obligated to make a purchase to support my friend. So with the intention of simply enjoying an evening with friends, I planned to buy the least expensive item available.

Contrary to my expectations, the pamper event was a delightful surprise. The Tropic Ambassador, Philippa, was lovely; we started with an icebreaker game, followed by a chance to sample all the products. They were aesthetically pleasing and smelled divine, making me feel truly pampered. Philippa informed us that the products were all naturally sourced, devoid of harmful chemicals, and produced ethically without harming the planet, which piqued my interest.

At the time, I wasn't prepared to invest, preferring to conduct some research first, so I left the party without making a purchase. There was no pressure to buy anything, which I appreciated, and Philippa generously provided me with a list of products suited for my skin type, along with a Tropic Magazine, in case I decided to make a purchase later on.

Why I changed my mind and decided to purchase.

Over time, my research into Tropic Skincare has left me quite impressed with their ethos and their dedication to natural ingredients. Their products are freshly made daily in the Tropic HQ kitchen, and they consistently avoid the use of harmful preservatives.

Ingredients

On their website, I found a comprehensive list of ingredients for each product, which allowed me to check for allergens. They stated that they do not use certain ingredients commonly found in skincare and cosmetics, such as alcohol, which can irritate the skin, microbeads, which are harmful to aquatic life when washed away, and honey/beeswax, which would require bee farming, as they are detrimental to the environment.

Their commitment to the planet is evident as they utilize only sustainable sources for their ingredients and boast a carbon-neutral certification.

They also commit to being consistently 100% cruelty-free and vegan—a promise that, I'm happy to report, is still upheld today. Reading about their dedication, coupled with my friends' positive experiences and visible improvements in their skin after using Tropic products, convinced me to try them out.

Investment so worth it!

I chose a bundle that includes a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and face mask. By purchasing this way, the mask comes free, which I absolutely love! They offer, and continue to offer, bundles that include serums and retinol products to enhance the skin. These I feel are reasonably priced, especially compared to some of the more expensive serums and retinols available on the market today.

Would I go back...No way!

Ever since I discovered Tropic Skincare, I haven't looked back. I've been a devoted customer and, after a few months, I became a Tropic Ambassador to spread the word.

You really do get what you pay for: high-quality, chemical-free skincare. I can honestly say my skin has never looked better, even as it matures. The products have maintained my skin's balance and moisture, and I no longer suffer from t-zone breakouts or the annual eczema around my eyes during winter.

My skin feels thoroughly nourished and well-cared-for. There's a particular oil, rich in omega, which I believe helped my eyebrows and eyelashes grow back after chemotherapy.

My husband gets my Tropic skincare obsession and knows that when it runs out, I'll be restocking every 3 to 6 months, depending on usage and product type. He's even become a fan himself and uses it daily! What I love most is that 'a little goes a long way'! Just 1 or 2 pumps of the cleanser, a few spritzes of the toner, one pump of the moisturiser, and a few drops of the serums leave my skin feeling incredible.

Lastly, it's comforting to know I'm not applying harsh chemicals to my skin anymore. Happy skin, happy me!
